Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Sightline ("Sightline," "we," "us," or "our") provides a Colorado sign-code and sign-permit lookup and permit-tracking tool for sign-industry professionals, at sightlinecode.com and the Sightline application (together, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

Sightline is currently operated by an individual sole proprietor doing business as "Sightline," not a registered corporation or LLC.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide directly

• Account information: if you create a Sightline account, we collect your name, email address, and a password, stored only as a salted cryptographic hash — we never store or have access to your plain-text password.
• Business/shop information: your organization's name and any team members you invite.
• Job and lookup data: street addresses you look up, the zoning and sign-code results Sightline returns, and any notes, statuses, permit numbers, or due dates you save to a job file.
• Communications: if you email us, including through a "get notified" link, we collect your email address and the content of your message.

Information collected automatically

• Server log data: IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps, collected automatically by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting.
• Session cookies: a single, essential cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

Information we do not collect yet

We do not currently process payments directly. When paid subscription plans go live, payment will be handled by a third-party payment processor (such as Stripe); Sightline will not store your full payment card number.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service — creating your account, running lookups, saving job files;
• Resolve a street address you enter to its zoning district, by sending it to third-party geocoding and mapping services (see Section 4);
• Communicate with you about your account, respond to support requests, and — only if you ask — notify you about product updates or launch availability;
• Monitor, secure, and improve the Service, including diagnosing technical issues;
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your personal information.

4. How we share information

We share information only in the following circumstances:

Service providers

These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually restricted from using it for their own purposes:

• Hosting: Render, which hosts the Service's servers and database, located in the United States.
• Geocoding: the U.S. Census Bureau's public geocoding service, which receives the street address you enter in order to resolve it to a location.
• Zoning data: Esri ArcGIS-hosted map services operated by the individual Colorado cities and counties covered by Sightline, which receive a geographic point (derived from your address) in order to return the applicable zoning district — the same public GIS systems a city's own website uses.
• AI-assisted code drafting: for zones without human-authored data yet, Sightline may send the text of a city's published sign code (not your personal information) to Anthropic's Claude API to draft a citation-backed answer, which is then checked against the source text before it is shown to you.
• Future payment processing: once paid plans are live, a payment processor such as Stripe will receive the billing information you provide to it directly; Sightline will not see or store your full card number.

Legal reasons

If required to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Sightline, our users, or the public.

Business transfers

If Sightline is acquired by or merged with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will notify you if this happens and your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We do not share your information with data brokers or advertising networks, and we do not sell your personal information.

5. Data retention

We retain your account and job data for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Section 7).

6. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including password hashing (PBKDF2), encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) between your browser and our servers, and access controls limiting who can reach production data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights and choices

Regardless of where you live, you may contact us at urbanemarketingcompany@gmail.com to:

• Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate information;
• Request deletion of your account and associated data;
• Opt out of any non-essential email communications — transactional emails related to your account cannot be opted out of while your account remains active.

We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days. If applicable state or other law — such as the California Consumer Privacy Act — grants you additional specific rights, we will honor those rights to the extent they apply.

8. Children's privacy

The Service is a business tool intended for sign-industry professionals and is not directed to, or intended for use by, anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have collected information from a child, we will delete it.

9. International users

The Service is designed for use within the United States — specifically for Colorado sign-code and permitting information — and our servers are located in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you do so at your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local law. We do not knowingly direct the Service to residents of the European Union or other jurisdictions with data-protection regimes beyond U.S. law.

10. Cookies

Sightline uses one essential session cookie to keep you signed in to your account. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking, and it expires or is cleared when you sign out. We do not currently use third-party analytics or advertising cookies; if that changes, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify account holders by email. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
